Vegan Testing
With the increase in vegan related fashion, the need for proving that a product does not contain any animal-related produce is now more important than ever.
YOUR CHALLENGE
While primarily veganism has been associated with diet, it is a total lifestyle choice and requires the newly initiated to examine all aspects of their existence regarding how they interact with animals. This obviously also includes their immediate surroundings and the clothes they wear.
HOW BV CAN HELP
Bureau Veritas along with our partner AMS lab have developed a range of tests with PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals). These tests allow a brand or retailers to properly test their products and label them as 100% vegan. We can test all clothing, footwear and accessories elements, identify each product used, check for cross-contamination during the manufacturing process, and confirm if a product is 100% vegan.
OUR CAPABILITIES
Vegan test is a quality control methodology to verify the absence of animal products under the vegan standard. Four technologies that verify the absence of any animal product:
-
Fibre Test
The absence of animal fibre is verified by microscopic techniques and a specifically developed chemical analysis.
-
Polymeric Material and Sy nthetic Leather Test
Using FTIR spectroscopy, we identify the type of polymer component used.
-
Clues & Adhesives Test
The absence of glue and adhesives of animal origin is verified via HPLC-MS/MS analysis methods, through which we identify different biomolecules that indicate the absence of components of animal origin.
-
Colorant Test
We verify the ansence pf animal origin dyes by mass spectronty.
