Like all other areas of the automotive industry, vehicle components manufacturers are increasingly affected by four primary megatrends – all of which raise new issues relating to quality
and safety.

Known collectively as ‘ACES’, these trends are:

Autonomous driving

The race to achieve true autonomous driving keeps accelerating, while the necessary
economics, regulations and technology fall into place. Market penetration rates for
autonomous cars (SAE level 4/5) may reach between 5% and 26% by 2039.

Connectivity

Artificial intelligence offers almost limitless possibilities, while connectivity-enabled
technologies are reaching mainstream application. By 2029, almost all cars in mature markets
are expected to include some form of connectivity.

Electrification

Momentum is building due to increasing regulatory pressure and accelerating technology
advancement. Anticipated market shares for EV cars in 2025 include 8%-20% in the US, 20%-
32% in Europe and 29%-47% in China.

Shared use

By 2025, the share of new vehicle sales for application in the field of new mobility (e.g. ride
hailing, car sharing) may range between 10% and 15% in the US and Europe, and up to 35% in
China.

international specifications covering not only quality and safety, but also environmental
considerations and connectivity.

We can address the following categories for automotive component testing:

New components – battery system, fuel cell system, electric motor, other drive components, etc.
Significantly modified components – gearbox, suspension, air conditioning, transmission, etc.
Obsolete components – clutch, exhaust system, oil pumps, etc.

Electrification is changing the composition of the vehicle, providing a whole new tranche of components related to technology. It is also driving many other components to become obsolete or in need of substantial upgrades.
