Connected People
Smartwear with Confidence
Wearable technology brings together two major industries – wireless connectivity and consumer
goods. This means a need for clarity around industry standards and regulations, addressing
everything from product performance to skin contact issues.
OUR APPROACH TO WEARABLE DEVICE TESTING
As a leader in quality assurance for both wireless technology and consumer products, Bureau
Veritas has a strong portfolio of testing solutions for clothing technology and smartwear, alongside
devices such as activity trackers and VR headsets.
Not only do we adapt well-known standards, but we also drive changes within the industry. For
example, in the smart apparel marketplace, we chair influential committees such as AATCC RA111
(Electronically Integrated Textiles) and ASTM D13.50 (Smart Textiles).
Bureau Veritas supports manufacturers of smart wear by tailoring our testing solutions to fit the
market standards of each product. We first carry out a comprehensive consumer panel evaluation
to identify the concerns of users, then adapt our solutions as needed.
Our global capabilities cover traditional physical and chemical testing, as well as connectivity
testing. We can examine battery life performance, product quality in relation to use and abuse and
also technology performance in relation to use and abuse.
