India WPC Wing introduce Equipment Type approval (ETA) through Self-Declaration on SARAL SANCHAR online Portal

On April 12, 2019 India WPC Wing has issued a notice No. ETA-WPC/Policy/2018-19 to introduce ETA through Self-Declaration for certain categories of Wireless equipment/products operating in license exempted from import licensing requirement as per Import Policy of DGFT. The online facility for obtaining ETA through self-declaration has been enabled on SaralSanchar Portal of DoT on April 12, 2019.

The applicants are requested to use the following instruction:

1. Applicant to apply via online facility at URL https://saralsanchar.gov.in
In case of any difficulty, the applicants many adopt the existing producure by sending email to etaselfdecl.wpc-dot@gov.in up to April 30, 2019. From May 1, 2019 onwards, all applicant will need to apply through SaralSanchar Portal only.

2. Applicant shall first register in the SaralSanchar Portal. Login credentials shall be sent on registered Mobile number and e-mail through which applicants may login into the system.

3. Applicant to upload all the product documents (RF test report, Authorization from manufacturer and technical literature) on the portal in PDF format.

4. Payment of Rs 10,000/- for each model is to be made through Bharatkosh Portal under the purpose of ‘Equipment Type Approval (ETA)’. The payment receipt shall be uploaded on SaralSanchar portal separately.

5. In case of any difficulty, applicant may communicate with WPC Wing at etaselfdecl.wpc-dot@gov.in / 01123036721.

WPC will provide self declaration for download within few days after verification of RF report, payment receipt and other documents. This ETA via Self-declaration process will be much faster than the normal ETA process.

All products operating in WPC de-licensed bands can apply ETA via Self-declaration, except these 4 types of products: Radar, Jamming devices (cellular jammers used to prevent mobile phones working in sensitive areas), Drones, Satellite equipment (any device that transmits to a satellite, eg. VSAT ).
