The India Toy (Quality Control) Order 2020 has been issued by DPIIT, Ministry of Commerce and Industry on 25 February 2020, which mandates the conformity of toy standard and compulsory use of Standard Mark
The Order shall come into force on 1 January 2021.
Application:
(a) (Toys) Product or material designed or clearly intended, whether or not exclusively, for use in play by children under 14 years of age.
(b) Toys as they are initially received by the children and, in addition, this shall apply after a toy is subjected to reasonably foreseeable conditions of normal use and abuse.
Conformity to standard and compulsory use of Standard Mark:
Toy shall confirm to the corresponding Indian Standard(s) and shall bear the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau as per Scheme-I of Schedule-II of BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018:
