CPSC Publishes Direct Final Rule for Toddler Beds

Oct. 25 2019

On Friday October 25, 2019, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) staff published within the Federal Register a Direct Final Rule for 16 CFR Part 1217, Safety Standard for Toddler Beds. 16 CFR Part 1217 will now reference ASTM F1821-19e1, Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Toddler Beds as mandatory with no modifications.

The previous version of the 16 CFR 1217 referenced the ASTM F1821-16 with no modifications. The 2019e1 version of the ASTM F1821, when compared to the 2016 version of the F1821, includes a modification to the testing of toddler bed side rails and several editorial changes

This Direct Final Rule will become effective January 27, 2020 unless the CPSC receives any significant or adverse comments.
