CPSC Publishes Direct Final Rule for Infant Bouncer Seats

Sep. 6 2019

On Friday September 6, 2019, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) staff published within the Federal Register a Direct Final Rule for 16 CFR Part 1229, Safety Standard for Infant Bouncer Seats. 16 CFR Part 1229 will now reference ASTM F2167-19, Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Infant Bouncer Seats as mandatory with no modifications.

The previous version of the 16 CFR 1229 referenced the ASTM F2167-17 with four modifications. The 2019 version of the ASTM F2167 includes many revisions including the addition of the four modifications specified in the original Final Rules.

This Direct Final Rule will become effective December 14, 2019 unless the CPSC receives any significant or adverse comments.
