CPSC Publishes Direct Final Rule for Infant Bath Seats

Sep. 23 2019

On Friday September 20, 2019, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) staff published within the Federal Register a Direct Final Rule for 16 CFR Part 1215, Safety Standard for Infant Bath Seats. 16 CFR Part 1215 will now reference ASTM F1967-19, Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Infant Bath Seats as mandatory with no modifications.

The previous version of the 16 CFR 1215 referenced the ASTM F1967-13 with no modifications. The 2019 version of the ASTM F1967 includes only editorial changes and clarifications. There was also a 2018 version of the F1967 standard that contained editorial revisions, test clarifications, and labeling changes.

This Direct Final Rule will become effective December 22, 2019 unless the CPSC receives any significant or adverse comments.
