California Proposition 65 Settlements

The following is summary of California Proposition 65 settlements recently finalized that involve certain pet products (pet raincoat, toothbrush in pet dental kit, pet bowl stand, pet accessories, pet carriers or baskets, pet totes, pet coats and costumes) and other consumer products (airline uniforms, undergarments, drinking glasses made with recycled glasses, vegetable chips).

Pet raincoat
• Requirement
o No more than 100 ppm total lead
o Or utilize a warning statement

Toothbrush in pet dental kit
• Requirement
o No more than 50 ppm of DINP
o Or utilize a warning statement

Pet bowl stand with plastic footings
• Requirement
o No more than 1000 ppm of DINP
o Or utilize a warning statement

Pet accessories
• Requirement
o No more than 1000 ppm of DEHP
o Warning label cannot be used as an alternative to meet the requirement

Pet carriers or baskets
• Requirement
o No more than 1000 ppm of DEHP
o Warning label cannot be used as an alternative to meet the requirement

Pet totes
• Requirement
o No more than 1000 ppm of DEHP
o Or utilize a warning statement

Pet coats and costumes
• Requirement
o No more than 1000 ppm of DEHP
o Warning label cannot be used as an alternative to meet the requirement

Airline uniforms
• Requirement
o No more than 75 ppm of formaldehyde
o Warning label cannot be used as an alternative to meet the requirement

Undergarments
• Requirement
o No more than 1000 ppm of DINP
o Or utilize a warning statement

Drinking glasses made with recycled glasses
• Requirement
o No more than 90 ppm total lead AND
o No more than 1.0 µg lead in Ghost wipe
o Warning label cannot be used as an alternative to meet the requirement

Vegetable chips
• Requirement
o No more than 17 ppb total lead
o Or utilize a warning statement
